8 Lessons that bloggers should learn from “The pursuit of happiness”

“The Pursuit of happiness” movie is based on life of Chris Gardner. A must watch biopic for every one who aspires to be an blogpreneur or entrepreneur of any sorts. Everyone loves to attain success but the path for success is shown at its best in this movie. This is how success feels!

Will smith simply wins our heart. “The Pursuit of happiness” shows struggle at its best. It shows what it takes to be successful. There are no overnight successes and this movie depicts it at its best.

Lesson 1: Don’t ever let somebody tell you that you can’t do something

Never let someone decide what you can or cannot do. If you let them, they will do it again and again. Nobody knows your potential better than you. This is what Chris Gardner tells his son. A great father advice. How often have we heard that blogging can not be treated as profession. Chris Gardner shows how to give befitting reply to all the doubters.

Lesson 2: Chris gardener was not what happened to him. He was what he chose to become

Life is not what happens to us. Life is how we react to what happened. There are some circumstances which you cannot control. Sometimes, life just knocks you down. That does not mean you stay down. It is in your hands to get back up. In the movie, Chris Gardner depicts that and lives to that. You may not have a great platform as few celebrity bloggers but that does not mean you cannot become great. Always strive towards attaining your goals.

Lesson 3:  Be the type of person that knows how to get the answers even if they  may not be knowing the answer

This is even more true in current times when there is exponential technology growth that there are lot of things we may not know. But still, we should be able to know at least how to find the answers if we don’t know them ourselves. He knows enough who knows how to learn. Chris Gardner proves this by converting his internship into job. In the blogging world, often we are new to technical things. We might not know wordpress or SEO or any such stuff but be the person who knows how to find the answers. With so much data available on the net, it would not be that difficult.

Lesson 4: Protect your dreams. Don’t listen to people who could not do it and are demoralizing you

We all have dreams. More often than not, we quit those dreams and forget because of what others say and what we think others would say. Chris Gardner in “The Pursuit of happiness”advises his son not to do that. We must all protect our dreams no matter what others say. I have often heard from few bloggers that it is total waste of time. I sympathize with them but just because it did not work out for them does not mean, it would not be working out for you either.

Lesson 5: If you want something, go get it. Period.

This is classic advise Chris gives his son. This is so relevant these days where we compromise alot of things and underestimate ourselves and forget of things we want. Chris says very clearly that if he wants something, he must go and get it. Period. End of discussion. That should be the only goal. If you want to blog, blog on and on. If you want to become best blogger, strive on and on till you become the best.

Lesson 6: It gets worse before it becomes better

There are no overnight successes. The pursuit of happiness is the best example. It demonstrates extremely well, the struggles Chris Gardner faced especially homelessness. There were times when we feel pity for him. He became a multibillionaire later on and his struggles paved way for his glorious future. In blogging also, seldom we find someone succeeding without much struggle but one thing which distinguishes successful bloggers from unsuccessful ones is perseverance.  As they say: Darker the night, brighter the morning.

Lesson 7: Tough times don’t last. Tough people do

Chris Gardner goes through lot of tough time. But he proves that tough times don’t last but tough people do. In life also, we may face temporary problems. We should not breakdown and accept defeat. Instead, we must fight back and be tough like Chris. Time will always change, one day our blog will be hit as well. Always have that faith.

Lesson 8: Never lose the hope during your pursuit of happiness

This is the most important lesson of all. You must never lose hope in your pursuit of happiness. It may take some time but eventually life will give you the happiness you deserve. We should never ever lose hope. Never even for a second believe that you might fail. Always have that optimism in you.

Give your full efforts on your blogs and watch “The Pursuit of happiness” if you have not watched!

I love this post and my favourite one is ‘protecting your dreams’. Sometimes its easy to let other bring you and your dreams down but it’s so important to hold that dream close to your heart and keep working towards it.

Great post. When I decided to monetize my blog it gave me a lot of unnecessary stress.
So I am going back to square one and focusing on quality content… after all, it makes me the happiest!

Great post! They are excellent tips, so relatable and relevant, especially for bloggers, considering people are being quite dismissive of them! xx Corinne
