Blogging: The Road Less Travelled

“Two roads diverged in a wood, and I, I took the one less traveled by, and that has made all the difference” – Robert Frost.

Robert Frost had 2 roads in front of him. One was lush green road which had not experienced much footsteps. Other was relatively more traveled road. Robert selects the road less traveled. He does not know if he has made the right decision or not. For all he knows, he might never have the chance to take the road not taken again.

Just like Robert Frost, we also face choices like that on day to day basis. There is often an easy way and a tough one. The roads are like options we get everyday like whether to sleep longer or go to workout session, whether to write the exam honestly or cheat in it, whether to save someone in a road accident or to leave as if you didn’t saw it, whether to join conventional stream of education or learn something new. Like this, we face countless choices. More often than not, we select the easy option!

Blogging is certainly the road less traveled. There are very few who would go all the way to make blogging as a profession. Blogging is mostly considered a hobby or passion.

Usually people prefer the paycheck salaried way. Now why do we select the easy option? Because from childhood itself we are taught that we should take the safe and easy way. We should never leave the crowd. We should always follow the stream. We should abide to our conventional ideologies and behave accordingly. If this is what the society teaches, it is quite obvious why blogging remains less traveled.

Not only there is a fear to take the road less traveled, we also believe that those who take the road less traveled are either psychos or stupid people or mavericks which we do not want to be. This further hurts the motivation of bloggers who have taken the road less traveled. Instead we should appreciate the ones travelling less traveled road as they are the ones who will give new insights and innovations to society. Bloggers are usually not given due respect.

Usually, in critical point of times, we face such roads where we have to select one. Such conditions can be tough because we may not be able to select the other road in our lifetime. Even more tough circumstances arise when both the options are promising and you want to travel both but cannot do that. This is why for most of the bloggers, blogging just remains a part time job.

Why are we so afraid to try something new or unconventional? What is the maximum you will lose? Most of the things we worry about never happen. We should try taking the road less traveled. It is better to regret of the things you do than of the things you wish you could have done. Most you will lose is some time and few dollars.

If you follow the crowd and take traveled road, it is unlikely that you would be very far from the rest. If you want to have a different life, you cannot take the same road everyone takes. If it had been easy, everyone would had done it.

It is important that you know the consequences of both the roads, the risk presented by the road. From 10 years from now, you better say that you chose the road instead of the other way around.

Choose carefully the roads of your life! I have decided to choose the blogging road. What about you?

Great metaphor for blogging vs. traditional employment. I like to skip along in the middle of the paths, haha!

Always worse to regret something you didnt try to my opinion, even if I fail, at least I tried.

Excellent post! I’ve been exploring, traveling and trying my personal limits quite a lot during my life. My mom has always been stressing because of me when I was younger but I don’t regret anything. Yes, it was sometimes hard to for example live on my own when 16 and yes living abroad has been an experience that’s been sometimes harder than staying home but it has been amazing though! I think I’d be regretting not exploring the world more than doing a lot of different things. 🙂 Follow your heart, explore the world and enjoy!

Success comes to those who try. Better to try than to regret later. Really wonderful read your post was.

I do love hat Robert Frost poem. I suppose when we make life choices we have to accept the road we choose no matter what. I just think that there should be no regrets about the roads we choose.
